open studio tours

Man it’s nice to be on the other side of summer and enjoying a much cooler breeze! I am also enjoying going outside during the day and feeling the lovely warmth of the sun on my skin. It actually feels pleasant.

Last month I participated in the Joshua Tree National Park Art Exposition weekend event and month long gallery show. I sold the piece in the gallery and sold a bunch of art in my booth at the exposition. I was also reminded of why I am so happy I moved here- the people. I met the sweetest, kindest, coolest, creative fun beautiful people at that show, and have never felt more at home.

This month is the famed Hwy 62 Open Studio Art Tours! It is a large event with 135 artists participating all over the Morongo Basin for two weekends. All you need to do is grab a catalogue with a map and pick out who you want to go see in their studio- and meet the artist face to face and buy art directly from them. I’m in studio #65 in Joshua Tree and I will be open both weekends. Grab your friends and drive out to the desert this weekend or the next! Such a great opportunity to immerse yourself in a weirdly beautiful desert art environment.

With the Studio Tours is a Group show at 29 Palms Art Gallery for the participants of the tours. Great work all around- go check it out, it’s up until the 30th, and they have a chili dinner fundraiser on the 22nd.

Also this month is Inktober, and for those of you who know about last year’s inktober endeavor, it sure is entertaining. Basically the premise is that you draw (with ink) every day and post it on social media with the hashtag #inktober. It’s a great way to practice drawing and then posting that drawing without overworking it for weeks.
