Pioneertown, ca

My studio is a tiny little building located in a strange little town. Originally built in the 40s, Pioneertown was developed for western movies and TV shows. Dick Curtis, Roy Rogers and Russel Hayden were key founders of the town, and Gene Autry filmed all of his shows here. (site)

Currently the town hosts the Pottery gallery, gift shops, a vintage clothing shop, wedding venues, a motel, a soap and goat hair fiber shop (with petable goats on the weekends) and the occasional cowboy show. Pappy and Harriets and The Red Dog Saloon are the bar/restaurants in town, and soon to re-open is the bowling alley. We even have our own tiny Post Office down the street.

If you are in the area visiting Palm Springs or Joshua Tree National Park, I highly recommend stopping by (especially on weekends- you’ll probably see goats and cowboys)

the land office

My building is on Mane Street, next to the Pottery shop in a tiny little space called the Land Office. When I am not open, it appears to be just another random facade. When I am open, visitors are transformed into a mostly desert themed tiny wonderland of an art sanctuary.

The running joke when people approach my shop is “do you sell land?”

Granted, it does have the Land Office sign outside, but below that says Art Gallery/Gift Shop. My reply is a corny “no, but I do have Land- SCAPES…” yuckity yuck.

Coming in at a smidge over 100 square feet, this building is just the right size. It’s cozy; it’s snug; if you get more than 4 or 5 people in there it gets claustrophobic, but it’s just right for me.

I packed it full of art and prints and gifts with my artwork on it as well as all of my personal art making supplies. It is my main studio where I make most of my art. When you visit you may catch me painting or drawing (probably another rabbit). Feel free to ask questions and give me feedback. My favorite part of having a studio that is open to the public is that interaction. I think it makes a major difference for someone to buy art directly from the artist.

Plan a visit

My studio is on Mane Street, next to the Pottery shop in the Land Office building.
Parking is best next to the Bowling Alley or in the Pappy and Harriet’s restaurant parking lot. Mane street is a kid and pet (on leash) friendly “hoof and foot only” street, blocked off from vehicles. Just watch out for those cacti (that goes for the desert in general).

Studio is OPEN to the public ON WEEKENDS!
SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS FROM around 11-6
(open most fridays as well)

stay in touch —- I update my Instagram page often.
